Miles Thompson’s gargoyles are an outgrowth of his academic background in Graeco-Roman archaeology plus his enthusiasm for Medieval art and architecture. Each Gargoyle is an original hand carved work, no molds are used, no two are ever alike.
Gargoyle history dates back to Ancient Egyptian, Roman and Greek Architecture. Ancient legends abound with stories of fantastic creatures that fired the imagination. Gargoyles came into gothic architecture in the early 13th century, they served as decorative water spouts, engineered to preserve stone walls by diverting the flow of rainwater outward from rooftops.
